Welcome to 2024. We look forward to working with you this year.

At this time of year, our thoughts turn to those less privileged than us. We like to donate to local, smaller charities where what we give can make an appreciable difference.

Oxfordshire Comminity Foundation

This year, we have donated to High Sheriff Sally Scott’s charitable fund, working through the Oxfordshire Community Foundation. Sally Scott, High Sheriff of Oxfordshire 2023-24, is working with the OCF during her Shrieval Year to raise awareness of the surprising and concerning issues affecting our county. Sally has kindly sponsored Oxfordshire Uncovered, a report that shines a light on the most vulnerable people in our county, and why effective philanthropy is needed to build thriving communities in our county.

Some key facts from the report:

  • Around 1,800 households are made homeless in Oxfordshire each year
  • 48,000 people in Oxfordshire say they often or always feel lonely
  • People living in the most deprived areas of the county tend to die 12 years earlier than those in affluent areas
  • In Oxford one in six children live in poverty

Sally’s efforts will fund the smallest charities in Oxfordshire and help to change lives. Our gift will be used by the Oxfordshire Community Foundation to support grassroots charitable organisations in Oxfordshire that are tackling key local issues. These include unaffordable essentials, poor health, loneliness and fear, and lack of opportunity.
