We held our mid-year company meeting at the The Racehut in Oxford recently – an inspired choice for an inspiring get together. We enjoyed an motivating afternoon of sharing presentations with the entire business, discussing future plans and celebrating record financial results.

Our operations team shared exciting news about the rollout of a new training system which will support staff in achieving their professional goals; whilst the quality team told us all about how they have been busy monitoring energy usage and adapting processes to be more environmentally friendly. We learned how our technical team have been extremely busy delivering a record number of automation projects and that our dedicated order fulfilment team has seen nearly three times as many customers and SKUs passed through as working days since its inception three years ago.

The company has achieved one of its long term strategic BHAGs (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) in the last month, and to celebrate, we are all going to Paris for lunch later this year.

Some adrenaline-pumping racing followed, during which the team displayed impressive skills and ferocious ambition in their efforts to win. After four hours of racing, Technical Manager Kevin Cook took the top trophy, with Technical Sales Executive Matt Baseley and Warehouse Operative Joel Johnson close on his heels.

In recognition of other achievements, James Heydon from the Order Fulfilment Team was honoured with the award for “Most Time Off the Track” whilst Technical Sales Executive David Peat took the wooden spoon (it’s OK – David has also just pulled in our biggest order this year). It was a close contest between Teresa and Chloe from our accounts department, who both demonstrated awe inspiring verbal skills for the “Potty Mouth” award, which was eventually declared a tie. The Racehut were excellent hosts.

A great time was had by all, and we are looking forward to racing ahead with the next six months.
