New 2009 Catalogue - Dummy Components, Test PCBs and Training Kits

Practical Components
· Virtual On-Line Catalogue for 2009
Practical Components have released their new 2009 catalogue on-line, full of the latest technology as well as the "old standbys". We have the widest range of dummy electronic components, from simple discretes to the latest sophisticated integrated circuit packages.

The catalogue is designed in order to give you help to find quickly the ideal product needed to improve or define your technology and your processes. The new virtual catalogue is organised by package type/category with each product accompanied by drawings, descriptions, part number and formulations. In an effort to make the catalogue more green and carbon neutral, our sales partners have created their virtual catalogue with a page flip format. You can view it on-line or off, save the complete catalogue to disk, send the complete catalogue or as little as a single page to a colleague, add your own sticky notes, or add bookmarks as well as print.

Look at our POP Pack on Package offerings starting on page 5 or the FusionQuad® on page 4. Check out our Pac Tech Flip Chips on page 26.

· Cleanliness & Residue Evaluation Test Kits
The Practical Components B-52 CRET (Cleanliness & Residue Evaluation Test) Kit is designed to help determine the ionic cleanliness of your manufacturing processes. The test boards and components follow guidelines associated with the IPC-B-52 Test Vehicle.

There are several different ways to measure residues and their effects on electrical performances - the two most common in the industry are surface insulation resistance (SIR) testing, for the evaluation of electrochemical failures in humid environments, and ionic cleanliness testing, for determination of ionic residues. Of the various methods for determination of ionic residues, the method of choice is ion chromatography, which determines both the type of ionic residue and the amount of the residue. A test vehicle was needed which could be used for both ion chromatography and surface insulation resistance testing, but which was more representative of mainstream manufacturing materials and processes.

The B-52 CRET Kit has available the test vehicles, components, Gerber files and Aegis Circuit Cam files. Check out the details in the virtual catalogue on pages 90-91.

· Training Kits
Practical Components Hand Training Kits teach hands-on electronic assembly procedures in accordance with specifications, quality levels or in-house requirements for operators, inspectors, trainers and supervision management.

These kits are tailored to conform with IPC, telecommunications, medical, military, commercial, aerospace, NASA and other unique specifications. Our kits provides the student with exposure to cutting edge SMT components such as BGA/CSP's, fine pitch QFP's and many other common parts and also unusual components for actual hands-on assembly and rework training.

These kits also give students hands-on exposure to the real world challenges when using through-hole technology. Students can install and remove a wide range of through-hole components, resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors and integrated circuits. Our training materials are continuously being updated to address improvements in electronics manufacturing technology and component availability.

Whether it’s training kits, printed circuit boards, dummy components or even custom kits and boards made to your specifications we can put together a cost effective solution to your training needs. There are almost 50 pages of kits in the latest catalogue - have a look!
