About Fisnar PPD-230 Peristaltic Pump Dispenser

The PPD-230 Peristaltic Pump Dispenser is designed for precise, air-free dispensing of low-viscosity fluids. A turning rotor presses against flexible tubing carrying fluid to give clean, continuous and controlled flow without run-on.

A peristaltic pump operates on the positive displacement principle to dispense a known volume of fluid over a specific time. Importantly, this pump design is viscosity independent. As the pump rotor turns and pinches the tubing, a length of tubing with a fixed volume is filled with liquid, and then this volume is ejected. The continuous motion of opening and closing the tubing ensures a steady dispensing stream of known fluid volumes, allowing you to dispense material to a location with accuracy and consistency.

Simple fluid path
A unique feature of a peristaltic pump is that the fluid comes into contact with only the tubing. With a single, easily replaceable fluid path, there is no difficult clean up – you just remove the tubing and dispose. In alternative pump technologies, the ‘wetted parts’ include valves, pump bodies, diaphragms etc. These parts are difficult to clean compared to the simplicity of a peristaltic pump.

The Fisnar PPD-230 peristaltic pump has a very elegant design that makes the tubing very easy to install and remove, and minimises operator contact with the dispensed fluid.

This makes the Fisnar PPD-230 well-placed for dispensing cyanoacrylate adhesives, anaerobic adhesives, thread lockers, inks, solvents, acids, and other low-viscosity fluids.

Easy control
The Fisnar PPD-230 offers timed dispense outputs from 0.01 to 999.9 seconds and flow speeds ranging from 2.9 to 20.3 ml/min. A digital timer and speed control will allow you to obtain accurate and repeatable dispense results, and a dispense cycle counter tracks completed dispense cycles.

Reversible flow control allows fluid to be retracted back inside the tubing after dispensing, preventing drips, reducing waste, and maintaining a clean process.

High-performance peristaltic pump tubing

Peristaltic pump tubing is one of the most important components of a peristaltic pump and is specially designed to withstand the continuous mechanical stress of compression and expansion as the pump rotor turns.

The inner diameter determines the amount of fluid pumped per revolution of the rotor, while the thickness determines the ability of the tubing to return to its original shape after each rolling.

Intertronics supplies two types of high-performance tubing for use with the Fisnar PPD-230 peristaltic pump: Innovaprene™ thermoplastic elastomer tubing or Innovasil™ silicone tubing.

  • Innovaprene tubing is a medical grade thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) designed for peristaltic pump applications offering excellent chemical compatibility, durability, and pump tube life. Innovaprene™ tubing has a tan colour and is opaque. It can be used for fluids that react / cure in UV or visible light. Due to its high specification grade, it can also be used in medical, biological and pharmaceutical applications, as well as dispensing in food manufacture. Regulatory approvals include FDA, USP Class VI, cytotoxicity and ISO10993.
  • Innovasil tubing is a high purity platinum cured silicone tube designed for peristaltic pumps. Innovasil™ tubing is clear / transparent. With an ultra smooth internal surface particle entrapment is significantly reduced making it suitable for use with cyanoacrylate adhesives. Regulatory approvals include FDA, RoHS and REACH.

Which peristaltic tubing diameter should you use?

Part number Peristaltic Pump Tubing Material Tubing Size Use
FIS5602013 Innovaprene™ 1.0mm I.D. x 3.0mm O.D. For fluids that react / cure in UV or visible light and when fluid viscosity is <0.1Pa·s (100 Cps) or when a slow flow rate is desired.
FIS5602015 Innovaprene™ 2.0mm I.D. x 4.0mm O.D. For fluids that react / cure in UV or visible light and when fluid viscosity is >0.1Pa·s (100 Cps) or when a high flow rate is desired.
FIS5602012 Innovasil™ 1.0mm I.D. x 3.0mm O.D. For fluids that do not react / cure in UV or visible light and when fluid viscosity is <0.1Pa·s (100 Cps) or when a slow flow rate is desired.
FIS5602014 Innovasil™ 2.0mm I.D. x 4.0mm O.D. For fluids that do not react / cure in UV or visible light and when fluid viscosity is >0.1Pa·s (100 Cps) or when a high flow rate is desired.

Easy loading/ unloading into the PPD-230 pump head

The flip-top lever design of the peristaltic pump allows you to easily load and unload the tubing. The tube grips are spring-loaded and adjust automatically to grip the OD of the tube.

  1. On the top of the pump head assembly, lift the tab upwards.
  2. The pump head opens, ready to load the tubing.
  3. Place the tubing into the pump head. Make sure that the tubing is positioned over the centre of the rollers within the pump head.
  4. Check that the tubing is aligned with the v-grooves on each side of the upper pump head housing.
  5. Push the tab on the top of the pump head assembly downwards to close it. Check again to make sure that the tubing is correctly positioned.
