Description
Preleg System Advantages Fast and Simple - The Preleg Iron is put in contact with Preleg Wire to melt the adhesive coating and form a bond between the wire and the printed circuit board. Preleg Wire saves time because it installs quickly. There are no separate adhesives and activators which require time to prepare, apply and cure. Install Before Wave Solder - Preleg Wire jumpers can be installed before wave solder by inserting stripped ends into board holes, and securing with spot bonds using Type #1 coated wire. This eliminates the need to tack solder and creates the best possible solder joint. A wire change thus becomes just another secured component on the board before wave soldering. Precise Routing - As Preleg Wire is routed from one spot bond position to the next, precise runs and corners are formed by holding the iron in place and leading the Preleg Wire to the next position. The iron melts an exact amount of adhesive into a well defined small rectangular spot bond. The overall result is a reliable PC board change which is neat and finished in appearance. Excellent Bonds - Bonds which are secure, and uniform in appearance, result from the entire board/wire joint having been heated by the iron during bonding. Traditional methods of applying dabs of hot melt to cold boards result in uneven and often unreliable bonds. Solid Adhesive - Preleg Wire carries its own solid adhesive, eliminating the need for messy and often hazardous liquid chemical adhesives. The adhesive is not sticky at service temperatures and enables the wire to be handled like any other insulated wire. No Shelf or Pot Life Problems - Preleg Wire eliminates inventory problems and waste associated with materials having limited shelf or pot life. Removable - If necessary, Preleg Wire can be pulled off without causing damage to the pcb. Environmental - Preleg Wire withstands a wide range of temperatures.
