The Araldite® 2000 PLUS range of adhesives offers complete solutions based on key chemistries — epoxy, methacrylate and polyurethane.

Each product can improve the performance and longevity of the materials they bond and is individually suited for joining a wide variety of substrates including plastics, metals and composite materials. The range is split into two main areas, dividing products for metal bonding and plastic bonding, which makes it much easier to assess specific performance demands and ultimately find the best solution for customers.

Packaging
Product performance is complemented by innovative packaging designed to assist the user. The Araldite 2000 PLUS range is available in cartridge or working pack format to suit the individual application. Also available are manual, electric and pneumatic guns designed for use with all the Araldite twin cartridges, and replacement mixer nozzles.

How to Use Araldite 2000+ Adhesives

Skin and eye protection

When working with adhesives, the protection of skin (gloves, appropriate clothes) and eyes (safety glasses) is recommended.

Read the cartridge information

Read the label of the cartridge to check the product name as well as the expiry date of the adhesive, and the safety warnings.

Use a dispensing gun

For each cartridge size, an appropriate dispensing gun is used. In this case, the adhesive is supplied in a 200ml cartridge.

Attach nozzle to cartridge

Good quality mixing is key to a successful bonding operation. The recommended mixing nozzle is attached to the cartridge.

Dispense a small amount to discard

The first drops of adhesive coming out of the mixing nozzle should be discarded, to ensure that both hardener and resin are flowing through the mixing nozzle in correct proportion. Then, the adhesive can be applied onto the substrate.

Apply a thin bead of adhesive

A thin bead of adhesive can be easily applied direct from the mixing nozzle.

Surface pre-treatment

Proper surface pre-treatment is recommended. In most cases, slight abrading and a solvent wipe improves the bond strength significantly.

Apply a small bead of adhesive

A small bead of adhesive is applied onto the substrates to be bonded.

Press substrates together

The two substrates are then brought together to form the bond.

Apply pressure

Pressure is applied in order to make sure that the adhesive is fully in contact with the substrates.

Clamp parts together until adhesive fixtures

The parts are then clamped in order to retain a certain pressure until the adhesive has reached handling strength.

The parts are bonded

The parts have been bonded and the clamps have been attached.
